director/partner

After completing his degree in economics in 1988 at the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň, Petr Šec founded the communications agency Proximity Prague in 1992, which is now majority owned by the network BBDO Worldwide.

Petr Šec has been interested in art for a long time. Like every collector he has passed through a number of phases. Today his interest is focused on contemporary international and Czech art. His passion for contemporary art led to his decision to obtain the lease on the non-profit Václav Špála Gallery, which since 2007 has returned to its function as a leading exhibitor of contemporary art.

After meeting with Olga Dvorak, Petr Šec has considerably extended his collection of contemporary art (Sec collection) and later they jointly founded Dvorak Sec Contemporary. In selecting works of art he follows his intuition and relies upon a professional team of curators gathered around DSC.

In 2011 Šec co-founded together with Olga Dvorak the non profit project and company, Artbanka that helps and supports young Czech and Slovak artists. In June 2011 they founded the Artbanka Museum of Young Art – a museum dedicated to the confrontation of the youngest art. AMoYA became to help diverse and innovative activities in contemporary art and to find a way to their Czech as well as international audience, to be perceived, supported and seen in context.
