Mark Titchner

Born in Lutton (United Kingdom) in 1973, Mark Titchner is the youngest artist taking part in the international selection of Sculpture Grande Prague. As he has been recently (in 2007) nominated for the prestigious Turner Prize, his work and career is now increasingly attracting much more attention of the art world. Combining graphic design with the aesthetics of pop art and advertising his work shows an ironic and somewhat fascinated gaze on contemporary urban culture.

In an environment saturated with icons and luring images, as the Wenceslas Avenue is, his billboard-inspired works question both perception and the transmission codes of images. An eye-catching billboard with an abstract background (a result of the digital processing of images) and a sentence from the work of this British artist, “We are all immortal” (2005), signs his contribution to Sculpture Grande.
